Safe Ministry at St Matthew’s
St Matthew’s takes seriously the responsibility to create a safe ministry
At St Matt’s, the safety and well-being of everyone is one of our top priorities. That’s why we have comprehensive safe ministry policies and protocols in place to create a nurturing and secure environment for all.
Every volunteer at St Matthew’s undergoes a Safe Ministry Check with our Safe Ministry Team to ensure that our children and vulnerable people are safe, we follow the Policies and Protocols of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and abide by the Diocesan Code of Good Practice.
This includes, for instance, police checks and training for all volunteers and staff who work with children and vulnerable adults. We also maintain a two-adult minimum policy in all children’s and youth programs, ensuring no one is ever alone with a minor. These practices are designed to foster trust and open communication, so everyone feels comfortable reporting any concerns they may have.

St Matthew’s uses the software platform provider Elvanto to store parishioners’ personal information, including names and contact details. This information is stored on a server located in Australia and is handled by Elvanto in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. We book events through an Australian-based company named TryBooking, and use the Sydney office of an American-based company Tithe.ly to process credit card donations to St Matthew’s. Both TryBooking and Tithe.ly use an American-based secure online payment system named Stripe to process your donations and event payments. Stripe’s subcontracted service providers are predominantly located in the European Union and the USA. Parish Council is reasonably satisfied that Elvanto, TryBooking, Tithe.ly and Stripe have adequate privacy protection policies and that appropriate privacy protection laws apply in the countries in which your personal information may be transmitted.
